Ode to the Amiga time, I invite you to discover the OST I’ve written for Powerglove (by Lazycow). The game from Matthias Bock will be soon available on the mythic 90s computer !
During you’re playing with the Hero and his powerglove to save our earth, i’ve choose to adapt my original C64 theme searching inspiration from the best musical of that early 90s period : Thomas Petersen ‘Laxity’ & Kim Christensen (DNA Warrior), Stéphane Picq (Dune), Tim & Lee Wright (Shadow of the Beast 2), Olof Gustafsson (Pinball Fantasies), Allister Brimble (Project X), Chris Huelsbeck (Grand Monster Slam), Robert A. Allen (Jazz Jack Rabbit), Koji Kondo (Super Mario Bros.), Martin Galway (Comic Bakery) or Yuzo Koshiro (Street of Rage).
Wow, working on a real .MOD file to include in an Amiga 500 games was not so easy that what i though. I should leave the OpenModplug environnement to switch to ProTracker and does finetuning. I also should fit in the memory that Matt reserved for the song… Anyway, i realy like how sounds the new funky version of the introduction !
Do u remember PowerGlove video games from LazyCow on the C64 ? Yep, you’ve right that’s a kwel game for the one i’ve written the audio part in 2013. Matthias Bock is for now working hard on the Amiga version and have presented some great GIF animated version last days.
So by my side i’m also working around the audio track for the game till around 1 years now. Here is some samples of the evolution of that project.
Well, i though i approach of how this Amiga version should sounds. Many references and inspirations : Dune, Shadow of the Beast, Pinball Dreams, Project X,… Great Job Matt for this great game in developpement !
Do u remember, last year i’ve written the musics for the C64 games Powerglove developped by Lazycow. This autumn, the game is now available on cartbridge edition and also on a extra PC version with parallax scrolling.
Matt Bock, the author have planned to port the game to Amiga, so will now focus on writing music theme for this version.
Happy New Year dear friends ! Finally the brand new CJ’s album is there ! I know there was a long time ago i’m working on it ! It’s probably not the one i first imagine and sometimes takes more time to think about it than work on it… For sure be a daddy, have two works and also be Cyborg Jeff is not so easy ! So for instance, it should be first a ChipDisk coded by K93 and animated by my bros. Pype. That was in 2004 !
So, Super CJ Land : Welcome to my TinyWorld is not just a simple Chiptunes album nor an album written with just a GameBoy… This is a trip in Cyborg Jeff’s world with all this simple sounds and tinyfication challenges. Tools and software have changed during this long project. You’ll find musics composed with the Farbrausch FM synthesizer well known in the Demoscene world. You will also listen to tracks sounding like the C64 gold period ! But also some tunes for Video Games like in Amiga and Nintendo ! So i’ll hope this variety will be a strong of this album !
Some words about this great adventure i’ve made last autumn. My bros. Pype show me a game currently developped on the C64, a new version of the excellent Pharaoh’s Curse, i loved to play 30 years ago. After some time i had contact Lazycow, the developper to propose music for his game.
In fact, he was working on another game Powerglove, using the same engine for the Commodore 64 ! Wouw, great mission ! For sure musics i’ve made 20 years ago on my commodre was not so kwel then what Chris Huelsbeck, Rob Hubbard et autres Jeroen Tel have made… Should i able to do some SID, the musical standard on the C64 !?
So i’ve worked with Goat Tracker. Black and basic interface but close to what i used during the MS-DOS time with Scream Tracker… I should learn how it works, created subtune and also made my own sound effect.
I finally quickly find how to do good stuff with informations from Matthias Bock. I would like to have an oppressing ambient but also something that the player would like to hear more. That was something incredible at that time on the C64. I remember i loop play to DNA Warrior just to listen to the music !
So i let you discover PowerGlove…
1. download the free image of the game (préférez la version “fix”)
2. if needed let it run on an emulation like CCS64
